When Aindi and Jen visited the nearest Maggie’s Centre in Cheltenham, he said he felt like a weight had been lifted from him. It’s a place to go and process bad news, psych yourself up for treatment, or just have a quiet cup of tea. Such a stark contrast to the clinical rooms in hospitals that are often chaotic. After months of treatment - most of it alone, without the option of visitors - the space and its staff offered him a feeling of hopeful relaxation and understanding. He believed that every cancer patient needs to feel this. His hope was for a Maggie’s support centre that would serve the QE Hospital in Birmingham. Whilst we know this may take several years, our hope is to support Maggie’s and one day make this a reality.
